Cafe Chain Company Intro

Established thirteen years ago, this cafe chain prides itself on being a collection of high-quality restaurants offering delicious food and exceptional service. If you’ve ever visited Nairobi you’ve most likely had some food from their menu. They have strived to create dining experiences built around the spaces themselves, creating a meeting hub vibrant with a sense of connection and community.

This cafe chain offers both full-service and on-the-go meals, baked goods, coffee, and more.

Business Challenge

Due to the global pandemic, they – like many other businesses offering their services to customers in-person only – were struck with strong difficulties in keeping their business going. They closed a total of 30 stores, as local laws made it impossible to continue to do business as they always had.

With restrictions in place against dining in restaurants, they sought innovative ways to simplify their customer’s lives, while also keeping their own business alive.

The Solution

DPO created a dedicated market, an online store connecting the cafe with its customers, without the need for them to build their own online portal from the ground up.

The personalized, branded marketplace enabled the business to upload products with images, descriptions, and prices, and to organize them into sections as they saw fit. This online marketplace allowed their customers to take advantage of special offers, order food for delivery or takeaway, and even pre-schedule deliveries days in advance.

Grocery Provider Company Intro

This grocery provider gives Ugandan farmers an opportunity to sell their produce to local customers directly. Their aim is to source fresh local food, and provide it through retail outlets throughout Uganda at competitive prices.

Business Challenge

With many retail outlets set up throughout central Uganda, the company had a successful business providing produce within major markets and towns. With the Covid-19 outbreak, Uganda implemented nationwide lockdowns, which significantly reduced the amount of customer traffic in their stores.

The Solution

By setting up an online marketplace through the DPO Store, they could continue to operate their business from a safe distance, making it possible for their customers to shop for fresh fruit and vegetables from home. The online solution was enabled for delivery, so orders arrived right to a customer’s front door. Farmers were able to have a continued source of income, and jobs were created for delivery drivers.
